Bowflex Max Trainer vs. TreadClimber

We get this question a lot around here, and one thing we have to immediately let you know is that you are in a great position because both of these are very high-quality machines that will help you achieve your physical fitness goals.

That being said both the Bowflex Max Trainer and the TreadClimber are two very different machines, and each one is going to bring a different set of qualities to the table.

Personally, I find that the Max Trainer is the best machine for me, but it’s not going to be for everyone, in which case, you may want to take a closer look at the TreadClimber.

One thing that you will discover as you research both of these machines is that they both provide their own set of unique qualities, so they are going to attract different people. It really isn’t about one being better than the other, but about which one fits the way that you want to work out the most.

Both will help you burn calories and lose fat. So it all comes down to subjective personal preference based on the type of workout that you are looking for.

One thing that is great about both of these machines is that they are both very low-impact workouts. So you will be saving your body a lot of wear and tear when using either of them.

When looking at the Max Trainer, think more along the lines of an elliptical workout, with a stair climbing component thrown in. The TreadClimber, on the other hand, is going to be more similar to walking on a treadmill at an incline, with some elliptical and stair stepping thrown in for good measure.

That said, this is just a basic comparison to get your mind thinking about which one might suit your needs better – the Max Trainer is much more sophisticated than your standard elliptical, and the TreadClimber goes far beyond what a treadmill brings to the table.

The Max Trainer is probably my favorite workout machine that I have ever tried – and I’ve basically used them all. From the treadmill to the elliptical, I’ve taken a run at most of them over the years, and the Bowflex Max is now my go-to piece of fitness equipment. There are a number of different reasons that I really enjoy using the Max Trainer, so let’s break a few of those down below:

This is huge for anyone who has had trouble staying motivated when working out, has a busy or hectic schedule, or who just prefers a quicker workout rather than a marathon session.

On top of that, it is light, easy to move around when needed, and can easily be tucked away in the corner of a small room or office.

How Does the Max Trainer Compare to the TreadClimber?

Don’t get me wrong – the Max Trainer is an intense workout, and it’s not going to be for everyone. Even though you only have to use it for 14 minutes per day to get great results, you’re going to be a sweaty mess at the end of those 14 minutes – I am anyways.

It also engages your glutes, uses all of your leg muscles, and provides a workout for your upper body as well. I find it to be a great workout, and I really do enjoy using it.

That being said, if you are significantly out of shape, you will want to ease into using the Max Trainer, or may want to even consider the TreadClimber to start. The TreadClimber can also provide an intense workout, but you are going to be walking for much of the workout, which may be more appealing to a lot of people.

It does get gradually easier to use the Max Trainer, and after a couple of weeks using it I was able to power through an intense 14-minute workout without any problems, and I’m definitely not Ric Flair or anything.

An amazing workout machine in its own right, the Bowflex TreadClimber also provides amplified results when it comes to getting a lot accomplished in a shorter amount of time.

By combining the best of both the treadmill and the stair climber, you burn a lot more calories and get more of a full body workout than just running away.

Plus, this is a great machine who prefer walking rather than running or using an elliptical. You literally just hop on, start walking, and the TreadClimber does the rest.

You’re also engaging your glutes, leg muscles, and core, so in addition to the cardio benefits, you’ll also be engaging all of these muscle groups as well, which really amps up the caloric burn!

Comparison Summary

The truth is that both the Max Trainer and TreadClimber are high quality, they just serve different purposes. It is all about what you want to do, and what type of workout you prefer.

We will make one specific note here, and that is that the Max Trainer also works the upper body and the TreadClimber does not.

That might make a difference to you and it might not.

One can argue that because the Max Trainer works the upper body at the same time as the lower body that you will burn more calories and less time with it but that really depends on the intensity that you use the machine.

On the flipside, the TreadClimber also burns more calories than your traditional treadmill, so it also provides a more efficient workout than your more traditional equipment.

As you can see you can’t go wrong with either one of these machines.

They are both well-made, they are both made by a very reputable company who is well respected in the industry, and they will both help you lose weight and get in shape.
